Fully automatic polishing machine for the fly eye lens mold KENMA

The liquid crystal projector employs multiple of fly eye lens (compound eye shape) to have a uniform illumination. These lens are in future, expected to be use in a solar power collection lens Fly eye lens mold is molded by such material as a glass.

The mold surface property greatly affects the performance of the lens.  Also these mold require a regular polishing as repeated molding result in the mold surface property to deteriorate by the heat.

The conventional production process was done by the very skill people’s hand fish job.

As a result, it took more than 30 hours and also it was difficult to maintain the lens quality from one from another.

To meet the demand of the production, we have developed the automatic polishing machine to polish the each lens.

The machine is consisted of the 5 axis table to fix a lens mold and 3 axis turning tools. Also our special formula diamond slurry enables the precision polishing possible.
